Every time winter rolls around, a bunch of people seem to forget how to drive in snow/ice etc. I got off work saturday at 7pm, get about a mile out of town, headed to pick my son up. I see flashing lights ahead, but its a single vehicle, I stop, and they tell me the road is closed for at least the next 2 hours. Apparently there was a pile up with serious injuries. My g/f called from the hospital where she works and said she was working late because of all of the crashes, quite a few nasty ones had happend. I just want to know, that when you live in Wisconsin, or any other state that gets snow often, how do you forget how to drive in it? I have only gone off the road one time, back when I was 17. I just don't understand it, driving in snow to me, is like riding a bike, once you know it, you always know it.

I think everyones always in a hurry and the distractions of phones, ipods, etc. make for disaster waiting to happen. I'm just as guilty as the next guy, it's difficult to find someone who is just driving anymore. Throw in hazardous road conditions and.....

I think its partialy all of these "stability control" systems we have in cars now. I'm sorry folks, but none of that crap helps you when you are going too fast for conditions IE 65mph in freezing rain.
