97 tuning options....im lost....?

OK guys, I have a 97 ss planning on doing heads/cam, maybe nitrous, boltons... blah blah blah....
my question(s)....
1. mail order vs dyno tune?......the catch is my elevation is 6k... and DA is usually around 8-9k in the summer
dyno tune would be better but NOBODY in town tunes lt1's expect one guy (w/tunercat)
2. I believe Tunercat WILL NOT work for my car (since its 97).... so what software is used?
3. so should i convert to OBD1/pcm, or buy something like FAST XFI(which is expensive and exsessive) ???

i would probably try a mail in tune first and if it still don seem to run and if right then i would dyno tune it and if still not happy you could convert your pcm!

tunercat sold the obd2 software to jet. Go to jetchip.com. part number 14005. This is what my tuner uses for my car.
