I'm in the process of rebuilding my lt1 to a 355. I'm going with LE's 226/232 cam. All said and done I should have full bolt ons and be putting 370-380 rwhp (my goal anyways)Anywho, my buddy is rebuilding my trans. He said he can do it for $200-300. Plus parts. He has worked with me at 2 dealerships as a trans guy so I fully trust him. What parts should I buy? What is weak in the 700r4? How much am I looking at cost wise? Sorry about all the noob questions. Car is a 93 z28.

The sun shell, forward sprag, and the input drum are the most common failures that i have seen in the 700r4 and the 4l60e. Monster transmissions sells a performance rebuild kit for $474.05 and contains
▪ Gaskets
▪ O-Rings
▪ Lip Seals
▪ Sealing Rings
▪ 700R4 Corvette 2nd Gear Servo
▪ .500 Boost Valve
▪ Friction Clutch Plates
▪ Steel Plates
▪ 3-4 Alto Kolene Steel Kit
▪ 3-4 Alto Red Eagle Clutch Kit
▪ 700R4 Filter
▪ 700R4 Heavy Duty Kevlar Band
▪ Teflon Pump Bushing
▪ Delco Front Seal Retainer Clip
▪ 700R4 Superior Shift Reprogramming Kit
▪ Hardened Pump Rings
▪ 700R4 10 Vane Rotor Gear
▪ 700R4 10 Vane Rotor Guide
▪ 700R4 High Rev Vanes
▪ 700R4 Heavy Duty Throttle Valve Spring
▪ Heavy Duty "Beast" Sun Shell
▪ Heavy Duty 28 Element Sprag
▪ Heavy Duty Wide Rear Sprag
this kit is rated at 500 HP and should suit your needs well but does not address the weak forward drum. Another company Mad Dog transmissions makes a reinforcement kit for the forward drum dont know the price but the site is maddogtransmissions.com. I used one of mad dogs kits in my trans and it is rated to 800 HP but it costs $800 but the quality of parts are worth it if you need that strong of a trans. Either company would be a good choice just depends on what you want to spend and how strong you need to be
p.s. dont forget a decent torque converter

Ok, the 500hp one will be plenty good. This may be a dumb question but I don't know much about trans's, does this include a shift kit? 3600 converter should be sufficient, correct?

only dumb question is the one not asked. it has a shift reprogramming kit and the 3600 stall should be plenty. if you want to upgrade to a better shift kit im sure they will

Pro Built Automatics also has complete kits that include a Transgo shift kit. The Yank SS 3600 is highly recommended.
