Ok, so the tranny in my camaro is fried. It would back up fine but barely pull foward. I pulled the pan and it had metal shavings in the bottom of it.
My question is, is there anyway to clean out my torque converter and use it in my new tranny. I found a used one out of an s10 im going to use and it comes with a stock converter, but id like to use the 2800 stall if it can.

I know just about every converter company out there offers a "cut and clean" service. It might be a good idea to take advantage of it. I would have a hard time putting in a converter that I was not 100% sure about.

x2... and most only charge like $100.00 plus shipping. and it's the perfect time to restall it larger for alittle more $.

you can get a reman. s10 converter cheap or atleast have a converter shop cut your s10 unit open to make sure it is good......
i use these converters often on mild bolt-on cars.....

Thanks guys. I think the converter is either a B&m or SLP. Im gonna try to get in touch with them and see if i can get it cleaned and maybe a higher stall, if not im going to use the s10 converter.
Does an s10 converter have a higher stock stall than an fbody converter?

yes! it definately does 2600-2800, i have also gotten the converter to stall at 3000k by launching manually in 1st then quickly putting the shifter in d to allow the tranny to shift to 2 and 3 on its own..
hands down, if you have the cash a midwest3200 will be a nice addition. Lt1s like 32-3600 stalls:hail::hail: stock and modded!

wow, thats more than i thought. I thought the s10 might stall to 2000 RPms but not 2600. That will be fine with me. A local transmission builder here has the s10 tranny and will guarentee everything in it is good and im getting it for 400 bucks, and he said he'll even change anything on it that needs to be changed to make it work in my camaro.
I got the camaro for 1300+400 dollar transmission= 1700 dollar car that can run 12s :finger:
Im gonna pass on a bigger stall for now. The camaro is going to be my dd and im not going to go crazy on building it, maybe a hotcam and the nitrous thats already in it and im gonna stop after that. The firebirds gonna be the project car.
