Hi everyone,
My transmission has been acting differently, but I don't know if this is normal or if something is getting ready to break. Lately when I accelerate slowly, the RPM will go up to 2700 before it shifts into 2nd gear. The thing is, though, it usually shifts below 2,000 RPM when I'm driving slowly. If I take my foot off the gas when it's at higher RPM, it upshifts normally. The RPM are about 200 higher on the highway when I come to a hill than the usual 1800 that I'm at when I'm driving 70 MPH.
It seems to do it more when the transmission is cold. I checked the fluid level and it's full.
Here's my stats: 95 LT1 and transmission with about 75,000 miles. Fluid and filter changed 4,000 miles ago on a transmission I bought used. This is in an '84 Jaguar XJ6. I reaplaced the torque converter (1700 RPM I was told) 4,000 miles ago.
Any ideas? Is my torque converter just breaking in or is something else going on? I'm new to these transmissions.
