things sat for a long while while i got parts and did research on the best way to get this engine in the car. i got pretty exited when i finally got my oil pan from Mckinney Motorsports. but while installing it i noticed one of my cam lobes was all ground down. so i searched for a stock cam for a while and finally decided to go with the cc503. while installing the cam i noticed the cam bearings were shot. so i tore the engine down cleaned all the parts and rebuilt it with King alecular pro series bearings. on the heads i used comp beehive springs and retainers along with Jegs 1:6 ratio roller rockers had the head decked down .010 and sealed them to the block with mr gasket ultra seal .026 thick head gaskets:

i encourage people to do this swap. there are more and more helpful swap parts available thanks to the common ls1/t56 swaps and as you all know the lt1 power plant has proven to be a good performer, and i expect it to do exeptionaly well in a car weiging almost 1000 lbs less than the cars they do so well in already, I started this swap about 2 years ago when I took out my perfectly good running 4 cylinder and sold it to buy the lt1. i ran into alot of hitches along the way were i used forums to help me with ideas. the main purpose of this thread on this and other forums is simply to give back. hope any info from here helps out!

Great swap, Few questions I have is , what are you doing for the driveshaft? How well do you think the factory differental will hold up in it? What parts were requried for you to swap it. Just looks like mounts and a oil pan?
I used to read alot more on this swap but it seems most of them are all ls1 now adays
lt1240sx
12-16-2010, 10:02 PM
i am going to use a drive shaft from the drive shaft shop. being that im using the t56. the ones they make for the lsx swaps will work fine. i just need to send them a length measurement and they do the rest
the fuel lines need adapters or something to adapt them to the nissans fuel system.
the cluch master cylender needs to be a 7/8" bore instead of the stock 3/4" there are also a bunch of an fittings that i need to still figure out to get that and the power steering hooked up
i also figured out i need to relocate my fuel filter and some fuel lines to make way for the header.
and also i need to modifye the impala headers to fit in the car a little better along with posibly getting an s14(newer body style 240sx) brake master cylinder so that the lines come out on the oposit side of the cylinder away from the header tubes

im using a drive shaft from the drive shaft shop, basically the same one people use for the ls1 swaps.
there's also an aray of an. adapter fittings i need to get the clutch hydraulics to work and the power sterring.
i also needed a willwood 7/8 cluch master cyl and i may need a diferent brake master cylender depending on how close mine gets to the header
lt1240sx
12-16-2010, 10:13 PM
i also needed some impala headers that i still have to chop up and modify and a 2.5-3" y pipe that i got from flowmaster and a bunch of manderll bent tubing to make the exaust meet up to my existing apexi 3" exaust

Awesomeness. That "Hood Closes" shot is one of the most awesome I've ever seen. Never seen one from inside the engine bay with the hood before!
Love the swap. I know the guy who was just in Hot Rod with the purple 96 240 with the LS1 (Chris Nichols).......amazing cars with the right motor in them.
Actually, a friend of my friends here is ditching is RB26 in lieu of a LS1 in his drift car (240) now come to think of it.

the new passenger side.

and part of the driver side. this took alot of work to make fit around the stereing shaft.http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/hs076.snc6/168610_1791355750726_1444614851_32095525_4365209_n .jpg

that will change in the future. ill probably buy a colector and redo this. but there is no buget left for a while so were having to make do with the parts we have for now. :(
the end result however less than ideal provides quality, and proper clearance from moving parts and heat sensitive parts.
