Just wanted to let you guys know about my experience so far with the clutch. Honestly...amazing!!!! I went to the track and was trapping 110 on a base tune and short shifting. Obviously I'm only running street tires, but I can say after about 3k miles it's still great!! For the price, you shouldn't pass it up. Has not slipped yet on multiple runs flooring in in third gear up to 110mph. Don't know how well it would hold with sticky tires, but for street tires and under 400whp you should be good with this clutch set. I've done burnouts and donuts and still great! It has a Luk disc I think and valeo pp. I can't remember, but it's the same as a different one I paid $250 for about 4 years ago, but only $159. I highly reccomend it. I know a lot of guys go with some of the aftermarket stuff brand name stuff, but I think some of that stuff is less reliable than a good oem type replacement if you're running street tires IMO. I also replaced it myself and made sure I got the flywheel resurfaced.

You can also take advantage of Autozone's VERY liberal lifetime warranty policy. The fine print reads "from defects or premature failure" or something to that effect.......not normal wear an tear in other terms. BUT......Autozone's company policy is lifetime means lifetime, if it wears out, bring it back, get a new one.

Wow, I didn't even think about that! Good point. I'll be happy if I get 15k miles or so out of it. It's all in the way it's driven really... When I drive my car, I've trying to have fun, so I'm usually not babying it. I'm sure if you drove like a grandma, you could get 200k miles, but who drives these cars like that??

I see so many guys go out and spend $300-$500 for these high performance clutches and they don't even need it... The way I see it is the only way I need a really heavy duty clutch is if I have a really heavy duty rear end with sticky tires, otherwise there's really no benefit, just chattering, and heavy pedal and short life. Just trying to help some people make a good decision.

Actually when you speak of the heavy pedal... most of the non twin disk clutches use that same valeo pressure plate

im using a autozone clutch i bought back in 2008 think i paid 219.00 for it. ive had it warrantied out about 3 times now. I thought the warranty was only for a year though, guess i was wrong. Good clutches heard the older ones use a lt4 PP. The disk itself is having trouble holding at my power level on street tires is the only draw back for me.

It's DEFINITELY good to know about this option. I am FINALLY ready to get going on my 240SX swap. But I need to get a clutch. If the $160 Autozone clutch is as good as you say, this will save ALOT of cash that I can use to buy other stuff for the swap.

FWIW i had a cam only car two years ago with a valeo unit from autozone.. It lasted two months.. slipped at the top end right before i sold the car.. I am not easy on cars though.. Great for a stock lt1 though im sure it would last a few years

Maybe so - at least in the sense that you wouldn't want to run this clutch with 450RWHP. But for those of us running fairly stock motors, it sounds like it might not be such a bad idea. Why spend $200-$300 more for WAYYYYY more clutch than you need?

Hows your competition clutch holding out?

Awesome. Its getting put in a friends H/C/I car since the new build will be way beyond its rated HP.

I went ahead and bought an Autozone clutch today. Here are a couple of pictures of it.

This is the disk. As you can see, the disk appears to be manufactured by Valeo.

The pressure plate, on the other hand, bears no markings indicating who made it. But if anyone can match the numbers on it with those on a pressure plate made by a known manufacturer, this would be helpful. By the way, the number on the casting is C70043. And the number on the finger adjacent to the casting number is 211.

It's a chinese knockoff.

All i can say is i have had this happen two times now with a bolt on ONLY Lt1 4 passes at the track on drag radials and the next clutch was 3 passes and 6 months(1900miles).. and yes i get shit when i return this clutch from autozone!
Granted cheap clutches are just that but the put a warranty on it so i did it, never again though! I only put 320/336 down.......
