1st gear lock out

is there a way to make my auto tranny stay in "low" gear my shifter only goes to down to 2 and i would like it to go down to 1 but i want to know how do i get it to go in to first or 2nd and stay there?

if i am not clear enough ask me to clarify

Romove the top console, look at the gear selector and you will see a small peg on the left side of shifter pull that out it will most likely break but thats ok now you will be able to manually place it in 1st gear i will look for a pic to help further.

Not sure what the point is, the PCM will still make it shift to 2nd gear even if you have it in the 1st position

A friend had a 94 A4 w/2.73s and i pulled the lock pin out and it held 1st gear to the limiter, then i installed 3.23s with NO issues.......

well i want to auto x the car and i dont want to be going around the track and the car be shifting all the time.

i have 2.73 in the rear so i will not be shifting all that much most of the tracks wont let you get past 45-50 mph because of all the turns

You would have to install a shift kit that would allow you to hold any gear otherwise the pcm will shift on its own.

nope i took out the little plastic bump stop and now the car will hold 1st all the way to the red line and won't shift:driving:
