Got a problem and had since i bought the car. This is whats going on.... Everytime i take off really hard (put the pedal to the floor) the car will take off like supposed to sqweel tires and everthing but when it come to time to shift it wont shift right. You will get up to 5000 rpms where the engine revlimiter is and the tranny just sits there and wont shift for like 5 to 10 seconds or more then all the sudden it will shift extremly hard but then start climbing back up in rpms and do the same extact thing. The enging will be at full power and still reved up like supposed to and will climb in mph but it doesnt shift for 5 to 10 seconds or even more sometimes. It does it everytime you put the pedal to the floor no matter if your going down the interstate or just taking off. had the tranny rebuilt like 2 or 3 weeks ago and still is doing the same damn problem. If anyone has any ideas about what it could be please let me know. been told it could be a censor been told the tranny just needs the shift points lowered. I have no idea please, help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Thanks.

Hrmm...it sounds exactly like it's slipping which is quite common for 4L60E's but you did say it was just rebuilt. I junked 2 tranny's after they were doing the same thing you describe. Basically cruising around town it's 100% fine, with zero issues. But at WOT the tach needle will just sit there with the motor screaming and then it decides to shift a few seconds later. Who rebuilt it? Have they done 4L60E's in the past or not? Might be low line pressure as well.

I was a highly recommended shop here in bg kentucky called millers aaa. The guy that even owns the shop drags with a 4l60e tranny. What you just described is excatly whats going on. 100% fine around town but once you get on it it just sits there at high rpms. The shop said its a censor but they wanted me to get more miles on the car before i bring it back and now its just to the point to where its pissing me off. I didnt think it would be the tranny slipping like they way its doing, but then again with a 4l60e anything is possible.

Do not go wot anymore you will just do some harm to it. Check the fluid level. It's possible that it is on the low side. Take it back to them and see what they say.

I'd be pissed at them for telling you it needed to be rebuilt when it could've been a sensor. Oh and btw you spelled Transmission wrong in the topic title ;)
