Yay for me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had an issue at the local 1/8th mile track on wednesday. When shifting from 2nd-3rd the tach never even dropped 100rpm. It engaged 3rd, but it either had the converter slipping real bad or the 3rd gear clutches slipping real bad. I talked with my tranny guy and he said he'd need to rip it apart and take a look. I've been wanting to go reverse-valve body with a brake anyways, so I figured it would be better for me to just order a new tranny/verter combo, rather than diagnos and fix my current combo. Here's what I am getting:

th350 full race rmvb with brake
fitz-all 4L60E kit to keep tail/reluctor for the speedo
275 first gear $$$$$$$$$$$$$
36-element intermediate sprag $$$$$$$$$$$$$ (he recommended this for hard launches on the brake)

8" race converter which should stall around 5000 on the brake

My current combo is a th350 forward pattern with an Art Carr 5000 stall. My cars rpm NEVER drops at all going from 2nd-3rd. we think it's either the converter slipping and absorbing the shift or that 3rd gear itself is burnt up a bit resulting in a soft engagement. Probably why my car never has the mph it's supposed to have and hits the rev limiter at around the 1200 foot mark, lol. He told me if I can foot brake my current converter to 5000, then it's probably a 6000 stall on a tranny brake. He told me how lots of shops make their converters stall higher by going negative on the fins or something, and he doesn't do it like that at all. He does it all with the stator with fine-tuning. He said it results in a much tighter converter and much more efficiency up at the top of the rev range. Sounds good to me!
