So I have the opportunity to get a smaller pulley for my ProCharger... Im currently running the 4.25" pulley....
now my question is this, I dont want my car to be down for a while till I can retune it....
Do you think if I changed it, and just made sure not to boost while driving I will be safe.... my though is that without boosting, the motor is running exactly the same with whatever pulley is on the blower...
Also, last time we tuned it I was fighting a mis fire issue (plugs) so the tunner left it a lil fat so that (in his opinion) I could feel when the misfire was corrected (i guess because of the better burn..... so technically , right now the car is running good with too much fuel, that should keep me a lil safer for a "few" more pounds of boost....right???

No "boosters" have any insight?

Keep your foot out of it and you should be fine. Actually I would say tread lighter because with the smaller pulley, boost will come on quicker and harder.

Yup as long as you drive conservatively you will be ok, Heck I had my procharger hooked up when my engine was new and I was breaking it in, Just never got into boost.. By the way, how rich? that can be as bad....ring wash. Check your oil and see if it smells like gas.

Rich enough to feel the misfire.....
however NO smell of fuel in the oil.... not sure exactly where he set it I was frustrated with the tuning session that day and walked away when he was finishing up....

Is the misfire truly caused by being overly rich? Have you checked your plugs lately, Check them to see if they are black, maybe its something else causing the misfire, If they are sooted black, I would have your tuner lean it out a little and make sure to keep checking your oil for the smell of fuel....

man, you have helped me out so much already, I cant even thank you enough.
My misfire that day (we believe) was because we had just replaced the plugs in the car before the tunning session. WHat I did not know is that my friends son knocked the plugs off the desk where they were sitting prior to us installing them. I believe a plug or two may have broken because the misfire only appeared after the plug change...
when we first had the car on the dyno after the new motor went in, it pulled SMOOOOOTH but we were unable to get the LT1 edit software to communicate because of the adapter having malfunctioned. SO while we waited fot the new adapter I decided to do plugs (the believed to be broken plugs). The next session on the dyno there was the misfire..... so that I could figure out when I had the misfire corrected the tuner stated that he left the tune a "lil" fat so that I could feel the misfire better, or should I say the lack of the misfire.......
hope that makes sense....

With the others, as long as you stay out of the boost, you'll stay safe, and be fine to drive it until you are ready for the re-tune.

well, unfortunatly while we were in there (motor compartment) we got the old pulley off, and the new one does not have the correct back spacing. By about 1/2"... so I stay with the same pulley.
But I appreciate all of the insight guys.... now I will know for when I finally can find someone with the correct pulley for my procharger set up.... apparently this one came off of a newer model mustang.....information that would have been usefull sooner.
