girdle/TA cover, welding axle tubes and or making a brace, possibly moser axles and junk too not to sure if it would help though

Dont waste a dime on a 10 bolt man. If you want to know the best way, go to taller gears.
If you rebuilt it with higher gear ratio (lower numerically) than you had it will be stronger.
Do that until you can afford a better rear end. It is not wise to sink money into a 10 bolt and try to make it hold.

yes like said defenitly dont get a lower gear, then it will be come much weaker. if you plan on racing i would just hold off and save your money.

I did almost all of this and it still only lasted about 6 months. Save time money and headaches and get a 12 bolt.

You cannot build the 7- 5/8 10 bolt to be strong period! Since the diameter of the ring and pinion cannot be changed that will ALWAYS be your weakest link...
Best bang for the buck is an 8.8 conversion i have 850.00 in mine and that is with a girdle gotta finish it soon since my 10 bolt is making some terrible sounds!

Agreed. The ten bolt is a waste. Just dont put sticky tires on your ride, and it should hold up.
160,000 on mine..... 4.10's with a 6spd, TA cover with girdle and the NON stickiest tires I could find......
Making a little more than stock power:devil:

Ive seen guys with ls1 camaros running drag radials, alot of power maybe around 450ish with a 4600 stall on a stock 10 bolt with mosher axles and an aftermarket posi, but its more about the rears longevity. If you go to the track weekly and daily drive the car a 10 bolt isnt for you. If the car makes it to the track rarely and its mostly street driven then I think a few little upgrades to a 10 bolt such as better axles, and an eaton posi or something equivalent would hold up fine for a street car.

Save the money for a 9"....I broke my "built" 10 bolt on the street. Had a girdle, better carrier, etc... still broke. not to mention my car was auto. 10 bolts are junk.

A buddy of mine just scattered his 10 bolt last weekend with an A4 car it did last longer than we expected but they just aren't worth putting money in. You can spend 1k on a 10 bolt and hope it last a year with you beating on it or buy a used 9" for around 1800.00 and beat on it as long as you want.

how long will the 10bolt last with a street driven car with reg tires? and m6

Could last forever just depends on how hard you beat on it. I have had 10 bolts in street cars and never had a problem out of them BUT those cars I didn't beat on hard.

if you have a street car with occasional track time, your 10 bolt should hold just fine. if you have a more serious track car, then a 8.8/9 inch build would be better for you. my stock 10 bolt is holding up fine with 200K of street use, no metal in the oil whatsoever
