I know I know 10 bolts are a waste to build ect. ect.
But I have never heard or seen anyone mention anything about this so just curious?

It is the small size ring gear that causes a lot of failures. I will never waste $$$ on a 10 bolt again.

Me neither, I was the biggest fan of building up a 10 bolt for a long time, but when I broke my first set of gears and really got in there and saw how ridiculously tiny they are, I wont waste another dime on one except to throw another ring/pinion in there and let it blow up.
I'm building an 8.8

That won't do much of anything. The problem with the 10 bolts is the size of the ring and pinion. The torque arm also isn't helping attached to the front of the housing and possibly effecting the pinion gear.
A solid pion spacer and a better diff cover with support tabs for the ring gear caps help prolong their life but they are on borrowed time. Behind a 6sp its even worse. I blew out 2 sets of gears and exploded the posi the 3rd time.
