Got a growling sound coming from the T56 tranny. Most noticeable down shifting and occasionally upshifting. I dont hear it when just cruising or still in neutral.
If your driving 30MPH in 3rd gear. And you push the clutch all the way in let the engine RPM drop to idle, you can really hear it and feel it in the shifter and the clutch pedal. Its a growling or a whirr whirrr whirrr sound. Once speed drops to about 10 MPH, clutch still presses, idle RPM, it goes completely away. Does it in 2nd too.
It now does it most of the time and I am convinced its a bearing in the tranny. Many local guys are saying the input shaft bearing.
Does this sound like the problem?
Anyone have directions on how to inspect and replace this input shaft bearing?

Sounds more like the throwout bearing is going bad.
