What differences are there between the 93-97 10 bolt out of an f-body and the latter ls1 10 bolts? Will the ls1 swap right in, and is it worth the effort? I really don't want to spend $2k out for a new rear if I can manage on a 10 bolt. Mods are in the sig, and I won't be running slicks. Thanks.

From my understanding they are close to identicle, I know a few LS1 cars got Torsen diffs. As far as swapping right in, I am unsure of that.

If you're only running mods in your sig w/ no slicks, sticking to your current 10 bolt should be cool, for now anyways. The time will of course eventually come that you pop it, this is true of any stock 4th gen rear end as I'm sure you know. Lol you could start slowly saving up now and have some capital for it when it does happen.

Thanks, I was told that some of the ls1 10 bolts were given a stronger diff from the factory. I think I can manage on this 10 bolt for now. I'll start saving now :)

406hp/413ft-lbs? Dude, you need to step up to a 12-bolt, Dana60, 9-inch.

Ever watch a porcupine play with a baloon?

Thats what you are doing every time you mash the gas pedal. I can hear it ticking like a bomb right now.

You have to change some stuff on the brakes to switch to an ls1 rear. They have a different emergency brake cable and i believe the abs sensor is different (4 channel instead of 3 channel).

I wouldnt waste the time to do the change unless you have to. With your power you better start saving up for a 12 bolt...

I will have the money in spring for a 12 bolt or s60, I just don't want to spend it. I also hate doing a lot of research on these things. :death:

The only difference is the posi unit like stated above, the torsen is "Stronger" or so they say.

Yes they will swap right in, just make sure its the same channel rear end as yours..

For example

Your car doesnt have TCS? Make sure you get a 3 channel, or your ABS will be Inop.
