Ben.....to do a proper HDR shot you need to combine multiple exposures of the same shot. Your camera should have a bracket setting where you can set the aperture and do a -2, 0 or good, and +2 exposure in a set. Then you'd combine those three for a true HDR image.

Basically you shoot one normally exposed shot, one underexposed, and one overexposed. Then you use HDR software to merge them together for a very dynamic pic. As Call911 has shown, you can get decent results with a single image Nd the editing software, but a true HDR image is a merged shot.

Yes I changed the apeture setting on the same shot, just as I did when I did the first HDR shots of the Camaro, so "yes" they are what you are refferring to as bracketing.

Thanks, I really like the 2nd one except ideally I would have like to shoot it in the middle of a road without the sun casting my shadow on the side. Really these were just some shots I tried with the different apeture settings of the car in the driveway for more experience on how to do these.

The shots of Fastbirds Vette I had to manipulate as Sean as saying as I wasn't there to take multiple pictures with different apeture settings like the rest.

Ben how easy was the bracketing on your camera to set up? On my D5000 it's easy to set but not auto. I have to manually trigger the shutter for each shot. Would be nice if it was full auto.

Pictures look great. I'd like to learn how to take some quality HDR shots sometime.

I have an apeture priority setting on my Cannon, but I still have to manually adjust it to the apeture setting of my liking. After playing around with different shots and HDR, I have noticed, especially on the shots where there is a foreground and clouds in the background sky, it is really hard to get it to come out good if you do this by hand. A tri-pod was used on all my shots, and is what I reccomend for these to come out great. As you move the camera (even just a slight bit) to change the apeture setting, it can sometimes show little differences in the shot, and thus not turning out as sharp.

Ben look in your users guide for the camera. I'd be amazed if it doesn't have an auto bracketing feature. It may sY AE bracketin or something but it should be there. You're 100% correct on needing a tripod for sure.
