Really interested in thoughts from everyone. I have looked at quite a few, and I am torn.
I have looked at Ram, Zoom, Spec, Centerforce. I'm looking for a real streetable clutch with some nice grab. I don't have a high horsepower car, but I plan on a nice H/C package later on this year. Also looking for something with a decent price, somewhere in the $400 range. Any suggestions?

Spec 3+. I dont have one on my car but know many people who do, and have driven a few of there cars. It is a great clutch, pleanty of grab yet still street friendly IMO. From what I hear they will take tons of track abuse and will still have a long life.

I'd recommend either the 2+ or 3+ from Spec. With just a head/cam package, you'd probably get away fine with a 2+.

I just got the ram HD powergrip. I know someone who has one in their car right now and it came highly recommended.

I am running an older SPEC stage III in my Z in my sig. Thats right, just a stage III (not even a III + ), and keep in mind that the stage III of 2006 is no where near what they are today. The current stage III will be overkill for a H/C/I LT1. I'd stick with the 2+ and that still will be overkill.

That should be easily had within your price range.

I would highly reccomend SPEC. I'll always have one in my Z.

another vote for SPEC. I got a plain old stage 2 for my bolt on BEAST! it will handle 600 ft/bs of Tq. I also put in the billet steel flywheel. Was about 800 bucks for the set. feels stock-sih and grabs great. Will slip nice at the track too for launching

I hate my spec, I am going with zoom next time.
I know a few people running zooms and despite what I heard online they are nice clutches in real life.

I hate my spec.
A lot of people have great things to say about SPEC, why is it you don't like yours?

On this site yes seems like everyone likes spec but on both ls1tech and ls1.com spec was hit or miss.

Ever since the install of my spec, the clutch pedal was very "chattering" like I just rest my foot on it and it vibrates like hell, not very comfortable. Taking off in first gear seems like I have to rev the car more to keep the car from shaking. I was not happy about it and sent it back to them, when I got it back my clutch pedal stopped vibrating but the whole car itself still shakes when I take off unless I give it extra gas.
No one else around here has that problem and I am the only one with spec.
When I do my 383 swap I am changing it up.

I agree. Actually, this is probably the first time I've seen a unanimously good opinion of Spec. Usually it's pretty equally mixed.

A LOT of Spec issues have come from poor installation and poor break-in. My 2+ I was meticulous about the install, did a proper break it, and it grabbed hard enough to bark 4th on the freeway during a race for me. Not one problem. Install it right, break it in right, you'll be OK. Another thing to consider: EVERY company is going to have pieces with problems. THink about how many people out there are running Spec clutches, and then think about the squeaky wheel syndrome........too often people are quick to gripe when there's a problem, and not often enough do they praise when a product is trouble free.

Another vote for the II + should be plenty of grabbing power for your goals and a little more street friendly for you if you daily drive the car.

I have a street twin but way above what your lookin to spend. Although its well worth it! No chatter at all from day one and has enough grip 2 throw handle what ever you at it

Well the installed was done twice by a good reputable shop that do clutches all the time including f-bodies.
I babied the clutch for the first 1,000+ miles, the whole time it had the same symptoms and now it been around 3-4K miles same symptoms.

$400...same price I did my clutch for. Go to autozone, order a stock clutch kit. Trash the AZ disc. Buy a 6 puck Ram disc and toss it in. Grabs HARD, isnt too heavy, have 3000mi on mine, still grabs like a champ and never slipped. Im gonna test it on the 383 next, cross your fingers.

I had great luck with my CF dual friction. I'm now using a Zoom HP series and have nothing bad to say about it. No chatter from either one, both are very streetable and I have had no slipping issues with slicks.

I didn't care for the feel of a street twin at all. Especially for the price. The good news is you can rebuild it, but IMO it sucked to drive for everything that I wasn't driving in "hammer down" mode.

I still believe the street twin is a good choice if you are 800+ RWHP.
