After having a little fun with Fastbird on a previous thread, I can honestly say that the only reason I could do that is because we are good friends.
After poking fun of him, I decided to do something to make up for it.
I have some newly aquired software that allows for some insane photo-editing. Its fairly complex, and honestly takes a ton of time. For those who might be interested in it, just google "high dynamic range photography"
Here are some of my favorite shots of Fastbirds Vette that edited thisafternoon.

Wow....you beat me to my own punch!!! I was planning on getting back to the top picture spot to do an actual bracketed HDR shot.

looks great, what kind of software is that? Can you use it on a mac computer?

Ben I assume the software you used was downloadable freeware? Shoot me a link to it. I have the ps cs4 suite which does hdr but want to look at other options.

Google high dynamic range photography and it will spew many different types of HDR software you can use.
I am using essential HDR community. There are lots out there that have a free trial, and others you can download entirely for free if you look hard enough.
Lots of people who use some of these have macs (so "yes" they make it for them as well).

Jon, these HDR pics are around 30 MB per picture. My email allows about 1/3 of that to send in attachments (this is also a reason they take FOREVER for the hosting site to load). You can right click the pictures and get the tinypic website showing the full pic as it would show from tinypic.
If you REALLY want the full pic and don't mind sending me a couple dollars for a mailed CD with them on it, I can do that as well.

Ben, once they're HDR merged, can't you compress them down a tad??? Put them on a disc and pony express them to me and let em play with them in PS and see if I can't make the file size more manageable.

A little harsh on the car, but the concrete is f-ing balls. I may have to return to that spot now too!

The program saves it as a TIFF file, and it won't seem to allow me to compress it like it could if it was a JPEG. I already tried converting the tiff to a jpeg but it wouldn't allow it.
The color in the celica is WAY off from the brown in the concrete, and thus why it was hard to get it to turn. Check this one out. Again the high powefull color of the celica made the dark shadows in the picture not turn out perfect, but it still gives it a ton of definition.

That one ain't bad at all!!!!
I know I can convert a TIFF to a JPEG in Photoshop. TIFF is completely uncompressed IIRC......hence the HUGE sizes.

what type of camera do you guys use to get pics like that?
Fastbird

Above was done with all software. You need software to do a HDR merge and a camera that does bracketed shooting. All of your DSLR's should have this feature as well as some of the more high end point and shoots will have the feature.

Fastbird (as usual) is correct, any digital SLR should work. Sean has a Nikon (not sure the model) that his cars were shot on. I use a Canon Rebel XTi. These are a step above your point and shoot camera's, and usually are in the $600+ range. They are larger cameras that can be cumbersome to take on a vacation or a trip, unlike the smaller cameras that fit into a pocket, but the difference is all in the quality, which IMO makes it worth the money and sometimes the hassle of the size being larger.

Nikon D5000 for me.

Use Paint.Net to reduce image quality by just a few% and it'll bring that size down without seeing any difference really.. It will still look good i promise.. But I would love to have one of these pics as my background! :D
