Do the rest of the gears line up with the shifter selection?

Take the linkage off the tranny, put the shifter in neutral. Put the tranny in neutral by rotating the shifter arm CW all the way (that's park), then 2 clicks CCW into neutral. Then put the shifter linkage back on and see if that fixes your problem.

I have a similar issue. Everytime I get it set and use it, Park becomes reverse, and in between park and reverse is neutral. When I start up the car, it's in reverse >.< I ordered 3 different cables, all from the dealer (prividing my VIN to them), and they all do the same thing.

there should be a plastic clip on the trans end put the car n park get under it pull the cable off and the clip out push the trans linkage all the way to the front (park) put the linkage back on and then the clip back in

When I get down to the shop I'll have a look at it and see if I can get it working. Thanks for the heads up.
