    Default 1987 Firebird torque converter

I just got a 1987 Firebird and I found out that the torque converter is bad. When I get my paycheck Friday I plan on ordering one from O'reilly. It was suggested that I ask on here which converter would be better to buy. The stock or stall. What is everyone's thoughts?

I like the idea of upping the stall. esp if ur gonna drag race it. Give u a better launnch. If ur not planning on drag racing it...u can prob throw the extra money into something else.

What are ur over all plans for the car?

@tubbyz can tell u how much a stall changes the driveability of the car...

What engine and what rear gear? Planning on modifying the engine? Had or ridden in a stalled auto before?

It's got a 305, I'm not planning on modifying the engine, and I have never ridden in a stalled auto before

So i disconnected the torque converter from the flywheel. But the torque converter is able to rotate in every gear. Also, when I spin the torque converter it does not spin the drive shaft spindle on the back of the transmission.

Does this mean the torque converter is not seized?
Is this how the torque converter should act? Or is this a new problem?

Your converter should spin freely. It is acting correctly
