I was told this information by a Summit manager, so I believe it is correct.

Amazing that they would sell those for $170 if that's what they are. In the reviews, someone indicated the first unit they received from Summit failed out of the box.

The picture they show of the Summit unit does still have only a connector for the harness, which would match the older Delphi units. The AC Delco Remans come with the short harness already installed.

This happens every time someone posts a summit link on this forum. I thought it was my puter so I ran an antivirus and it came up clean.

And, yet another case of erratic pulse signals from an MSD Opti.... in this case, 2 units in a row. Guy bought a 93 and was having a problem with erratic idle, running rough. Car had an MSD Opti. After playing parts replacement roulette for a while, he replaced the MSD Opti with a brand new MSD Opti. No change. After driving for 20 minutes all the problems return. Using his Snap On brick, he observed the simultaneous reduced time between low res pulses and indicated unrealistic instantaneous spikes to 5,000+ RPM.

At this point, without feedback from MSD, I would say to avoid the MSD Opti.

So, has there been any general consensus on what the issue is with these aftermarket optis? Is it cheap optical sensors, irregularities in the high res reluctor slots, combination of the two?
