Very interesting. I don't know what it was but the lone C4 I've ever driven was a 95 with the ZF6 in it and that was the most lightning quick completely notchless feeling smoothest manual trans I've ever handled. It stuck with me.

I remember you asked about fitment in a previous thread. So far it's nowhere near as bad as I had feared, I was prepared to have to rework the entire trans tunnel if need be. I think you could even clearance for a stock slave if you really, really wanted to. The clutch I'm using requires a hydraulic throwout bearing so that point is moot for me.

@Fastbird Got the trans fully bolted in today. Had to cut some out of the shifter hole, but not too much. It actually worked out pretty good, for where I'm thinking of putting the seat, put the shifter right where it's comfortable for me. You'll also note that there is plenty of room in the trans tunnel thus far.

    Other things I learned today.

    1. Stock trans mount must be at least extended. The ZF is a little longer than the t56, as well as the mounting bolts on the
ZF being pushed a little back. I'm actually going to start fresh with an all new crossmember that runs to the subframe connectors once I get the ones I want installed. No biggy, but that leads to the next thing I learned

    2. Stock style torque arm WILL NOT WORK!!! The shifter on the ZF sits smack dab where the stock f body torque arm mount goes, so that means the stock torque arm will also not work. Which means I will have some stuff up for sale shortly once I get it cleaned up for anyone looking for an after market stock style torque arm

Also put a cylinder head on today to check fitment of the headers I bought because I thought they were going to work. But no, I am back at square one and probably going to build a set to get the fitment for everything just right. Also put some stuff back in so I could start checking fitment of the turbos. Looks like I have alot of work to do to make this all fit.

Well, looks like evolution is accelerating. At this point I have had a couple new ideas and the "average joe" stage is pretty much getting tossed out the window. It doesn't help that I can't re use some of the stock pieces due to my choice in transmission.

Just a quick update, I haven't abandoned this project, just been having to sort out truck and daily driver issues so cash has been a little short. And my goals for the car mean that it's going to cost A LOT of money, so it'll be awhile before it's fully built.

Goals for the car have been nailed down. It's going to run in the 6's quarter mile and I'm planning on competing in a super unlimited road course class.

As for the rear suspension, It's going to be a 4 link but with a pretty unorthodox twist. I can't reveal details just yet, but it'll be pretty wild once I get the details nailed down.

Right now the plan is to throw something together to test the suspension, while I build the DOHC 383 that will take me into the 6's and supply the power for the super unlimited road racing.

The other big goal is the make this happen with minimal change out of components. If possible, the swap out will be brakes and wheels/tires. Of course there will be suspension adjustments, but the goal is to not have to swap out anymore components than I have to.
