youre right, im slightly concerned about it. the thing that makes me think it will be ok is the fact that its been running all this time like that. most of the dampers are nearly gone from being crushed...there was quite a bit of metal caught in the back of the heads. So im sure plenty has went through the engine itself.

i think im going to just start working on building my next engine after i get this one back together lol

Maybe think about this...instead of replacing the guides (and resulting valve job) you could cut the OD of the guides down and use a corresponding smaller ID valve guide seal. Summit lists the correct .344 valve stem seals in .485 and .500 ID sizes down from the stock size of .535. You could even do it yourself if you get the cutter, one of my pals at work did. You have nothing to loose and you will end up more room for a larger ID spring if you want.

Brilliant! i cant thank you enough for all your help. Thats exactly the kind of info i was needing. The guides themselves are actually fine when it comes to fitting the valve. I didnt realize it was so easy to get a seal slightly smaller. that is awesome. i will mic them tomorrow.
so there is a specific cutter for the guides?

Maybe check with your machinist, he may be able to do it economically. Summit lists valve guide cutters,http://www.summitracing.com/search/p...utting%20Tools
    and seals, http://www.summitracing.com/search/p...20guide%20seal
you just need to do some research to choose the right tools an seals.

I'm so cheap...i am my machinist...lol. i dont build engines besides my own though, so its always a learning experience. With that said.. it usually always seemed the same way when i payed someone to build an engine, thats why i started doing all the work haha. i still screw up plenty if not more. but hey its fun, and i can say look what i did :P

ill do some measuring tomorrow and see what i can get away with.
i cant thank you enough for pointing me in that direction.

Well I think I have it all worked out woohoo. It looks like I can cut them down to .530 so I'm gonna get that .531 cutter and some .530 seals.

Saves me some headache that way I don't have to re-do all the valve guides and the valve job.

Also going to order some of those comitec gaskets tonight when I order that stuff.

I wonder if @shownomercy has found those golden bolts yet ..
