    Default Oil pan leaking FML

Can you do the oil pan gasket with the motor all bolted into the car or what? It looks like its gonna be a tight squeeze to get the pan down. My pan is dented in the bottom so I wanted to do a canton pan and new gasket because of the leak and dent. Just wondering how big of a job it is and what I need to do.

undo motor mounts, lift on motor....

loosen 6 K member bolts and allow it to drop...

just enough room to get pan out...

You can do the pan with the motor in the car, without dropping the K member. Did it last season, alot easier with less work.

Not sure if the canton pan is lower/shaped different, might want to check on that. The stock will come out, and will go in by just unbolting the motor mounts and jacking/hoisting the engine. Make sure you arent crushing anything of course.

Really, Are you sure, because I have a tubular K-member and the stock pan would NOT come out just lifting on the motor.

Yep, done it multiple times and once to my own because of some other hacks having it before me (Stripped drainplug and a small leak that crept up).

Not to mention the pan only needs to be dropped down a little to do the repair he describes (just the gasket).

whether or not the pan will come out depends alot on A4/M6. I struggled for hours to get the one out of my M6... i almost couldve dropped the engine in the time i spent.

I have an M6 and I did not have to drop the k-member. it took about 3 hours. make sure to under it again in a few days and make sure all the bolts are still tight.

was done on my car. the intake manifold was off in this pic as well because we did that gasket too. but the reason the cherry picker is there was to raise the engine. FWIW my car is an A4
