aftermarket shifters in an A4 95 Z28?
Help me out guys, I'm trying to figure out that the two cables do that move when you push the shifter button down do. Can you bypass those cables and bolt an aftermarket shifter in there? I'm asking this because I have a Hurst dual gate shifter out of a 60's GTO or Olds 442. So how do you guys with race cars have the dual gate or B7M shifters in your 4th gens? Any help of write up's would be awesome!

If your still running the 4l60e your doing more harm than good , Other than that if I recall you should have the one that releases the shifter and the main cable the goes down to the trans

yes there are two cables that move towards the firewall when you press down the button and the obvious shifter cable that goes to the tranny. I should mention too that I have the 2.73 gear rear end so my factory shifter only goes down to 2nd gear can't shift into first, that is the main reason I want to do this combined with looks . and yeah I have an untouched 4L60E.

Yeah I'm not going to have a problem bolting the shifter in and using an M6 console with a boot to cover it, but I just don't know how to avoid those two cables...

One cable goes to the column for lock out, the other is the shift cable.
