Default 94 cam dowel pin Question

I am putting in my cam and was needing to know what the dowel cam pin length need to be. I have a custom grind Comp Cam and I am pretty sure the dowel pin that comes with it is the long dowel pin.

    Thanks for the help guys!!!!!

If you doin the vented swap then you need .500. Im pretty sure the non vented is .350-.400 but I cant remember for sure.

Vented should be around .62 to .65.

Since you have a 94 and you didn't specify if you upgraded the opti, I'm going to assume you have the unvented version. I've read that you can tap the pin further into the cam face to where you need it or just grind it down with a cutting wheel.

FYI,,,,If it has not been upgraded it would not be a dowel pin. It would be a center positioned spline.

Unvented opti cams still have a dowel pin for alignment of the cam sprocket.

We were, but maybe I misunderstood. Just to clarify, both 93-94 and 95-97 cams have dowel pins (that is, the locating pin for the cam sprocket). On 93-94, the pin is short and is exclusively for locating the cam sprocket. On 95-97's, the pin is longer and is additionally used for driving the optispark. Not to be confused with the splined shaft that drives the older unvented opti.

I just cut it down to match the stock one.
