Thread: Operating Temps

    Default Operating Temps

Its been a long time since I have regularly driven my car so I forget what "normal" is temp wise.

EWP, 160* thermostat, bled coolant system, 80* OAT and cruising at ~70mph puts the temperature from waterpump at 195-200.

Is that normal? At idle it cools right back down.

You're fine there. IIRC a stock car would run about 215* give or take.

Not used to seeing the actual number, used to the crappy stock cluster showing a general idea of what it may be temp wise.

Was not happy to see 200 cruising, but guess thats the price one pays for a big IC blocking the rad.

.Be glad for those temps, mine with the IC in front of the condenser, will keep creeping up until I have to stop.

I don't think mine was going to overheat per say, survived a three hour drive with temps never over 200-205 area. BUT thats at the water pump, god knows what the heads are at.

The dash gauge shows the head temp, and mine is not a lot different when I compare the dash to the water pump shown in the MoTec ECU. Also have another temp sensor in the steam return pipe connected to the stock PCM, and that isn't much different read out on a ScanMaster mounted on top of the steering column. Good thing about "reverse flow cooling".

Thanks that makes me feel better about the temps.
