Opti Block Off Plate
Does anyone know if the water pump has to come off to install the GM opti delete plate?
And or, can I buy a opti seal alone?Correlation does not imply causation.

When I installed my electric water pump, I removed the mechanical pump drive gear and covered the hole with a quarter and some JB weld. I did it from the inside of the front cover, but that should work from the outside of the cover as well. Ya may or may not have to remove the water pump to get that method done.

That is already done, this is the opti hole in the timing cover.

I don't think you'll be able to remove the old opti without the pump coming off. I have 1" water pump spacers on my Buick that allow me to swap optis without seeing coolant. The length of the rotor that goes into the cam snout is what makes the install tight.
