I thought the fittings had to go together dry? Think it would work with PS fluid?

Track night was intense, I'm ready for another lol. Car felt super planted and predictable. Brakes felt great this time around and the car didn't bite me for using them mid corner. I guess replacing the rear caliper slide pins and GG pads did the trick.

Anyway, here's me chasing a Miata around:

I have always used tape or this permatex stuff on NPT stuff. Hell, even the AN fittings get a tiny dash of PTFE goop on the threads.

Hey, That was awesome. I finally had a chance to finish watching it. You were getting better and better as the heats went on. At around 24:00 what was that lil SUV that kept walking off from you in the straightaway? I'm assuming it was one of these new high HP SUV's I've been hearing about. Thanks for sharing your video.

It was a MK5 Golf GTI, dude was really pissing me off because his car was way slower through the turns and couldn't brake nearly as hard. You're supposed to pull to the right, decel, and point-by traffic in the passing zones if someone's been on your tail for a while, but he wouldn't let me or the LS3 Camaro that was tailgating me for a few mins through.

Didn't talk to him, but I'm guessing it had some motor upgrades (k04 turbo maybe?). My Hawk only has Pacesetter LT's and a glasspack, so it's pretty slow by my standards. I'm debating throwing some SA 1.6rr's on it for a little boost, but my long term goal is to dump my Roadmaster's motor into it which should be ~370-380whp.

Currently working on making an Arduino HUD to keep track of my corner entry speeds a little better. I'm trying to run another track night @ pocono on 8/17, intermediate class this time so the traffic will be faster. Hopefully I can get my lap times down to low 1:50's or high 1:40's.

I started getting a subscription to Car & Driver free somehow. After reading about some of these 5-600 HP SUV'S that are out there that I never even knew about, I realized that there are some kool-aid Moms that could blow the doors off my Camaro and it's pretty quick.
I found it funny that you mentioned "following a Miata around". Me and a friend who has (Had, he sold it) a very serious LS3 Camaro once talked about going to try out some road course racing. His stepdad said, hell yeah I'll go race with ya'll, I'm pretty good at it. His road course experience is in his lil Miata. We decided we didn't want his stepdad to spank us with his experience. LOL
Thanks for sharing your videos, I'm subscribed.

I know a couple people with Miata's they race, although I've never driven one personally. It's pretty obvious why they do so well when you look at the ratio of curb weight to tire width on most of them. They're generally 2-2.4k lbs and can tuck 245's on all corners. Plus, they have IRS and can dial in rear camber/toe for even more grip. Being underpowered is also somewhat of an advantage on tight autox courses because you can be more aggressive with your throttle without breaking loose, it practically drives itself. Something like a C5 checks a lot of the same boxes, but keeping it planted on corner exit will take some finesse.

They have their place, but they definitely lose their edge on the road course when the high powered cars can actually hook. It also seems like the bigger cars with longer wheelbases are more stable at high speed whereas the Miata might be twitchy.
