OK then. That means the cable and driver are correct. It also means that the correct Coms port number is being selected. Make sure you are selecting the same port# in the scan app. It does not mean that there is a good connection at the car's connector, so double check that.
You can create a comms log file that may help. Try to connect as before, but this time, first check the "Enable Comms display" and "Include idle traffic" boxes on the Comms tab. After the attempt to connect, click on the "Save to File" button on the Comms tab. There should be data present in the display box. Post the resulting comms data file here. It will be in the same folder as the Scan9495.exe file. Use the Manage attachments button in the Go Advanced section.
With only 5 posts, you may not have permission to add an attachment yet. If not, then paste the file contents into your text reply.Last edited by GaryDoug; 01-04-2020 at 09:44 AM.

I suspect the cable is defective at the end to the DLC in the car. Probably a wiring or connection problem in the cable. The loopback test passes so the rest is working. Make sure to leave off the cable's jumper.
To make sure you have the jumper right, l;isten for any change in relays or solenoids when you plug the cable into the car. If it has a short, the pcm will enter a self diagnostic mode and will not respond to data requests. Typically the fans and some other devices would turn on in self diagnostic mode.Last edited by GaryDoug; 01-04-2020 at 09:10 PM.

I'm not sure what you mean by cable jumper. But when I plug the cable into the port I don't hear any clicking of relays or solenoids etc.
What's the best cable you recommend, the red devil river? http://www.reddevilriver.com/site/mo...aldl.html#2625
I know you have write ups on making one up cheaper but I'd rather buy one ready to go.

" I tried with 10k and "open" which made no difference". That's the jumper. Leave it off or in the Open position.
I would recommend the cable from there, much better workmanship than the RDR one. But I have seen bad cables from both companies. Get the one that fits your connector.

Do I need to buy their thumb drive as well (i assume has the drivers) or can I use the drivers I already installed or the 28 version you provide?

I got the cable, set up the drivers and port. Still won't connect. I ran the comm log diagnostic and I'm getting the same error as last.
Thinking through my setup, do I need a 12v source to draw a signal? The computer is a 95 LT1, wired to my 12-pin connector, which has no 12v source like the 16-pin. To get my Actron scanner to work, the scanner is powered by the 12v cigarette lighter; only plugging in the ALDL does nothing. Or does this cable use power from the laptop?

Cable gets power from the laptop. Does not need any power from the car. Make sure you are not selecting 93 for the year.

Dang. I toggled to 93 for shits and giggles but its been on 94/95. The fact that the Actron reads has me confident in the wiring but I'll look it over.
