1983 jag xj6 with lt1
Hasn't happened yet, but i have the jag (still running its original 4.2 straight 6) which I bought in 06 with every intention of swapping in a v8 right away, but was actually quite impressed with how powerful that big 6 was.
Anyways.... fast forward 13 years and that 6 is getting tired, I'm no longer comfortable traveling more than 50 miles away from house in it... soooo... whilst browsing craigslist about 6 weeks ago I came across, 94 lt1, with 4l60e, complete drivetrain, standalone harness and pcm, had already been transplanted into an early 70s monte carlo. Got to see and hear it run, so I grabbed it!!!
I was very tempted to just drop it in jag as it sat, but being as the monte carlo was already 2nd car for engine, I had no idea of mileage (and no gauges were hooked up so couldn't see oil pressure), so I stripped it.. and sent block to machine shop etc...
Got block and crank back from machine shop last week, so far all I have accomplished is getting crank and cam back in, I did advance cam 2 degrees as it's got the lt4 hotcam in it and my jag is quite heavy..
More to follow as I slowly progress...

Absolutley no progress on the swap yet. Too hot in garage! Motor is built, and ready to go, trans hasnt been touched yet, and Moe Bailey caurrently has my pcm!
Doing as much as I can without being in garage! Engine was done before it got too hot!!
Once the hood comes off the jag the pics will start, I would say October some time... stay tuned!

I have been fiddling with this swap now since mid November, Engine and transmission are in, it's all wired up except the tcc power as my cruise switch on brake pedal is broken and of course, no longer available, so I have to come up with something. If all else fails i will do the relay version that turns power off when brake is applied..
All hoses are on, and hooked up, except trans cooler lines which I had to cut because I didnt route it behind motor mount and didnt feel like pulling the motor back out to reroute.
Exhaust is just manifolds and downpipes right now, until I get it running and towed to an exhaust shop to tie my back half to the new front half!
Will probably be next weekend before I attempt to start her! ( supposed to replace my front door on house this weekend)
Hopefully I have followed all the directions on lt1swap and shoeboxes site and she will fire right up!
Wish me luck!
I would post pics, but I am on mobile site and dont see a way to attach any..

Well, its all in and wrapped up! Got the exhaust done, had new lines made up for the ac, new wheels and tires! She looks great and runs like a scalded dog! Well she did!
Im guessing that between the added power, and the added weight, the transmission which was having a few issues of its own has thrown in the towel... got a rebuilt one coming..
More to follow..
