Default pick up tube fell off

Well I took the car for a very short drive today. I found there was a leaky valve cover gasket and wanted to make sure that I repaired it. I noticed when I would brake the oil pressure would drop drastically. I do have the appropriate amount of oil in the motor so I know I'm not low on oil.

so do i pull the motor out completely is is there some tricky way i can pull stock pan off with the factory k member in the car?

i tack welded the oil pick up tube on .... but that wasnt enough .... it fell off

So it was the oil pick up tube.

My oil pressure drops drastically when I brake hard, and about half when moderately braking for a red light or stop sign. I know also that my oil level is full, but it still happens and my check gauges light will come on during a hard braking stop. The light goes off and oil pressure picks back up when the inertia settles. I only have the oil pressure gauge in the instrument cluster to go by. I have a Melling oil pump in my car with 12K miles so I'm sure it's just inertia in my car.

If you jack up the front of your car or drive up onto ramps to get underneath it and you bang on the oil pan you might hear something rattling inside of it I did it with my car and found out that my oil pickup tube fell off

I'll try that ^^^^^ Now I'm curious to find out. I've got the factory K-member and I don't see any way to pull the pan without unbolting the mounts and raising the engine. I've gotten pulling the engine from the bottom down to a science cuz I've done it several times.

oil pressure drop on braking or turns typically means the oil pick-up came off as the OP discovered.

Bore scopes are pretty cheap now and using one through the oil drain hole or oil level sensor hole would show if it fell off if you can't determine if it fell off by hitting pan with a mallet. Draining the oil though should help hearing the hammer hit method though

Could also mean very low oil levels in the pan if you uncover the pickup on hard turns or braking.

I would check ur pick up tube as well @Ardent_Z28 . It shouldnt move that much if at all from inertia.
