car goes in to dealer friday for a laundry list.

starter slow cranked like battery dead click crank click click after being stuck in traffic. talked to og owner and he said thats why he had it replaced. it would heat soak in summer time and he would have to leave it sit for a hour or 2 before it would crank fast enough to start.

rear diff groan and chatter getting worse, acting like a locker most of the time.

trans issue still there. more hunting in gear now, longer delay between any gear and reverse, very hard shift into reverse.

oh and the steering gear recall. i think thats it for this round

not really. went miserably south. they claim they could not replicate the starter or transmission issue, but did flush the diff and do the power steering recall. guess what, trans issue is still there. gm customer care wasnt really any help, was more or less told "you bought this car knowing it had issues".

basically, we are not going to be paying this much for a car that multiple dealers wont touch when the problem is CLEARLY there, gm CLEARLY knows about it and has a fix but wont honor it under warranty even when it has already been worked on and flushed before for it. we are out of lemon law mileage/date and dont have the money to fight under the warranty act given our house purchase, so kat and i agreed to wash our hands of it.

Got what we could get (multiple dealers nailed us for a previous ding (literally) on the carfax for the previous owner and killed our trade in value, but all the dealers were the same $ wise) and we traded it in. We couldnt find a GC SRT for our price range/monthly payment (we tried really hard on a maroon one), but we found something else we both liked.

Probably going to get a bunch of crap for this, but it is awd/4 door and can fit the kids/my grandmother who lives with us. It honestly was a large mistake getting rid of the G8, the room it had was so useful. but this will do. kids already love it.

Thank you. I know its fried rice, just american made, but as a kid growing up watching World Rally Championship, the focus RS was a fast car. I had a focus hatchback at one point, and for what it lacked in power it made up for in weighing nothing and handling amazing. The RS trim was big in europe and something special, but us in the US didnt get them until 2016. It has enough room, rides stiff but tolerable, has awd, and honestly, its a more enjoyable drivig experience (its amazing being able to SEE things when driving).

And yes, youre right, i wouldnt have been able to live up to you with the GC
