When my camaro dropped its, we drained the oil and hit the pan with a rubber hammer... first whack u heard it clanging around in there.

no, figured its self explanatory. press in pick up, get it exactly where it needs to be, mix up jb weld and lay a nice bead where the lip meets the pump housing. make sure it is completely clean of oil and rough surface a little bit

Don't they still make retainer clips that bolt to the tube and attach to two of the pump bolts? Used them a long time ago.

I got one but it was too big to hold it, had to make a spacer shim to go around tube

the press on fit should hold but most realize they don't which is why tack weld is done. The casting and tube are not the same metal so if the weld is cold or does not cover a good portion of the seam it can crack at the weld and the pick up comes off

I have never heard anyone else using JB Weld until Tubby mentioned it. IDK how impervious it is to oil or internal engine heat

IDK if Melling makes a pump with a bolt on pick up for the LT1...been so long since I had a stock oil pump. Mine is tack welded

using it in a oil pan for a brass fitting for the procharger oil return (old p600b) for 3 years and no leaks. use regular jb weld, not quick stick or the pre mix or anything.

I bought a factory volume Melling pump and a Moroso pickup. The pump had a bolt/hole and the pickup tube had the tab.

Well here's my pickup tube fix ... now I shouldn't have any problems with it ever coming off again also while I had the pan off I took out the oil level sending unit and welded that guy should because it leaked a little bit
