Here are two other options if needed in the future.
1. Take a look at Muncie Drag way. It's just north of Indy and is a nice track. Has the second longest shut down in the country and lots of room in the pits. Negatives are they run every Sat and some Fridays. So if you wanted the track to yourselves it would have to be on a Friday or Sunday. Should be much cheaper than what Bowling Green costs.
2. Don't rent the track at all. A lot of tracks will let you have a lane and let you run against each other as a special program mixing in with their main program. If you have 20 to 50 cars most tracks what that extra business and will make exceptions for it. It's not as nice as having the track to yourself but better than letting the event die. I know several groups that do this and it saved them from canceling their programs.
Hope those could be some possibilities if needed.

Larry has pretty well summed up the reality of what's going on. Our track rental is private which means we control the gate and all revenue generated from it. It's what allows us to keep the event exclusive. The amount we raise in sponsorships, along with what we bring in at the gate, apparel sales, etc determine what we can afford to rent. The rental has steadily increased about $500 each year for the last 4 years I have been a part of it and I don't foresee the trend stopping anytime soon.
That being said, there will ALWAYS be an LTX Shootout, each year, (weather permitting obviously) as long as I'm involved. So let's squash any "will there be a next year" talk. The answer is yes.
In order to continue having the event at Beech Bend the way we are used to having it is to start bringing in more revenue. This means we have to bring more people into Beech Bend Raceway Park on race day. I am wide open to suggestions.
In 2014 the event was held at Gateway International Raceway in Madison,IL (East St. Louis). It was a shared event similar to what Jeff suggested. The track itself is a world class facility. There were no complaints about the surface or shut down area. Plenty of room in the pits, bathrooms, etc. I personally did not hear of any issues regarding sharing the track with other racers. However, anyone that came who has been to a private rental at Beech Bend will tell you that they are 2 entirely different experiences. Aside from the track, the Holiday Inn in Bowling Green has always been accommodating to our parking lot party and the general BG area has a ton of attractions to help keep the family busy. Overall, you will have a good time whether you came to race or just catch up with friends. It would be extremely hard to duplicate that environment anywhere else.
