Hard to talk about... but once again, since I consider u all my family... here goes.
So as many of u know, I have been struggling with health issues ever since 1 month after I quit smoking 5 or 6 years ago. There have been several studies showing a link to quitting smoking and this disease, but nothing substantial enough for any dr to go on record against big tobacco about. Either way, smoking was my decision and no ones fault but my own... just sucks that I tried to do, and successfully did something like quitting in order to be healthier, and instead that decision is a path to possibly killing me... lol.
I ended up with an autoimmune disease called Ulcertive Colitus... its like Crohns but it only affects the colon... which is pretty much the large intestine.
Ive beem pretty open about that disease here, and on fb and in person. Unfortunatley, as a very small, and I mean 1 or 2 of you know, it has actually been alot worse than that for many years since the disease set in.
Several years ago, I was diagnosed with displasia which would be leading to colon cancer... being the stubborn guy I am... I refused to do surgery, as it was not life or death amd there were meds and treatments I had not tried that were still possibilities thay could get me thru this without surgery...
Well after years of 3 hour infusions every 5 to 6 weeks, and more daily meds than my grandparents used to take, my last colonoscopy has put me in a "life or death" position (literally). Biopsies from my last colonoscopy were reviewed by my GI, a cancer specialist from Reading hospital and Hershey Medical Center as well as being sent to the university of Michigan. All of them had the same interpretation of the results...
I am forced to make a decision to do something and have surgery to have my entire large intestine to my colon removed, or continue to be stubborn and have the cancer spread and kill me...
Ive kept this so close to me all these years because there was a chance i could get around this... my parents... my wife and most peopl I know, were only given the disease info, and not the cancer diagnosis...
I actually took off work a couple weekends ago so that I could take the time to discuss the fact that I'll be fighting cancer to my family and wife.
Although not happy that I kept it from them, they understand that I did it not to load them up with worry while there was still a chance to beat it.
So I go to Hershey Medical on the 8th to discuss and ask questions with the surgeon... apparently at this point they are unable to confirm whether or not the cancer has spread outside of the inside of the large intestine, but if it has and they confirm that when they open me up, well then Im in for more aggressive cancer treatments, but i will cross that bridge when I get there.
So anyways, thanks for listening... I guess I just needed a place to put it out there, as its been a heavy weight to bear these last few years.
Im not lookin for pity or even to be treated differently, in fact that will probably only piss me off and make me feel like Im closer to death rather than recovery... its also still kinda hard for me to talk about, now that "death" has been given as a possibility...
Ill share more info after I meet with the surgeon...
Thanks Again

We have suspected you were holding it tight and had a feeling that it was more than just the U/C for a bit now. If you need anything at all man, do not hesitate to ask. You have helped us so much, me especially, over the past few years and i am forever grateful to call you a friend. Prayers will be sent. Thanku... I definitely will keep you all in the loop. Its made me kinda crazy holding it in all these years... so having a place to talk about it still helps.
I still find myself brushing it off when people talk to me face to face ,cause it still upsets me pretty much...
