Aftermarket ECU/ECM
Was wondering if anyone is running any of these ECUs I know some of the higher hp guys are running FAST but has anyone done a MegaSquirt or even a BIgStuff 3(if possible only see LS stuff on their website). Im still working on my build but since there aren't many tuners to me locally and I don't know where the nearest LTx tuner would be and I don't want to do a mail order tune when I have boost, so I'm looking at a aftermarket ECU. Thanks guys.

Have you thought about doing a Torque head conversation. That way it can be tuned with HP tuner.

Was actually thinking of keeping the opti just to say it has a opti still I can already beat ls motors here, but I want to be able to beat faster cars here and still say it has a opti, but I have looked at the conversions

I would it can be done, but running BS3 or MS off a opti may be work than is worth it. I believe @Fastbird ran some frankenstien combo with a FAST ECU.
IMO, get rid of the opti and run a proper cam/crank sensor. You will only be hindering yourself trying to use its cam sensor.Correlation does not imply causation.

Running an opti on an aftermarket ecu is like dating a porn star and only holding hands. I ran an opti on an accel dfi, then again on an ms3 pro. Recently switched to crank trigger and never knew how smooth it was supposed to run. Yes it can be done, yes others do it and make a lot of power, but at the end of the day unless you're running the stock pcm with the opti there's nothing to brag about.

Running the Opti (cam sensor only) feeding a MoTeC M48Pro (20+ year old model) ECU. MoTeC has an IEX 8-channel ignition driver option, allowing 8 LS1 coils. The Opti cam position sensor (AC Delco new-in-box vented unit paid $200 for) has provided reliable, faultless performance over the years. Being able to use both the high res and low res signals is beneficial in taking advantage of the MoTeC capability of tuning sequential injection timing and ignition timing on an individual cylinder basis.
I felt like a traitor to the LT1 when I took the high voltage out of the Opti. But I'm convinced that without the impact of the high voltage, the benefits of the precise info from the optical cam position sensor can be realized. The whole setup was simply a duplicate of what Second Street Speed had installed on George Baxter's 1,125 flywheel HP 30th SS convertible (held LT1 ET record for 2 years from 2001 - 2003).
Not suggesting you should consider the MoTeC - current models are extremely expensive, and limited number of authorized tuners. Just trying to defend the honor of at least 1/2 of the Opti.

I ran a the FAST XFI using the cam signal only but was a headache. Then I went the frankestein route, the 1st to do it from all accounts. XFI, XIM, LS coils, w/ the 24x cam sensor and FAST crank trigger. Hasn't let me down since.

At least three years ago. I have to replace the battery, turn the engine over by hand, clean the entire fuel system, and then get the engine running. Waiting for the weather to cool down. Funny thing is, nothing to stop me from driving it on the street now. Starting at the beginning of 2017 in NJ, vehicles 1995 and older do not have any inspections of any kind - no emissions, no safety, no sticker. Not to say a cop couldn't give me a ticket for some obvious violation like no cats, but it could be just as much a street car as a track car.
Other factor is my age.... I'm at the point where my ability to crawl under the car for two or three hours and turn wrenches is becoming limited.SOLD - GONE TO A (VERY) GOOD HOME ! - 94 Formula A3+1: 381ci forged stroker - Callies Stealth, Oliver 5.85 billet rods, BME nitrous pistons / CNC LT4 heads / CC solid roller / TH400+GearVendors OD / 4.11 Strange 12-bolt / 300-shot N2O / Spohn Suspension / roll bar / MoTeC M48 Pro engine management system /a few other odds 'n ends.
