    You might be able to approximate installed height with a caliper but the best tool to use is a valve spring micrometer. Proform makes one for $40.

    Finnaly got around to checking my spring installed hight.
    They are 1.825
    Should I shim them down to 1.775?

    Another important factor I would think before blaming parts would be the DA for the two nights you ran. That could be a contributing factor, just plain old shitty air. Haha

    I dunno the da but the air temp was in the 50s both times and clear.

    Straight off summit website

    Installed Height (in): 1.750 in.
    Seat Pressure at Installed Height (lbs): 165 lbs.
    Open Height (in): 1.110 in.
    Open Pressure (lbs): 426 lbs.


    Guess ill order some .075 shims

    EDIT: well looks like they come in .15 .30 and .60

    Went back again and WOW what a change of events
    I dropped almost .4 and gained almost 4mph just from going from a crappy air intake setup to my custom setup with the ram air hood.
    Air temp was even slightly warmer than the passed runs. Couldnt be happier with these times, I also ran a 8.0x right off the street
    and another 7.9x pass after a 20 min cool down

    I havent even got around to shimming my valve springs yet and Im still on the 1.5 rockers, stock suspension, FULL weight and heavy 17" WS6 wheels.

    Here is my cut down C5 Ebay air cleaner setup... It fits PERFECTLY under the ram air hood after notching the radiator support? plastic tabs some.

    Oh yea, I didnt get video of it but I ran a 5th gen SS Cammed, stall and drag radials and was pretty much dead even with him the entire way down. I believe he ran a 7.88 to my 7.95 (on that pass) so the old bird was holding its own for almost being an antique lol
