put your hand in a sandwich bag and gently rub the paint. If it is at all bumpy it needs clay

Megs clay bar is my go-to when one of my cars calls for it. Works great on glass and wheels, too.
@spikester7878 - what do you think about carpro iron-x? I used it on my paint a few times and like the results, but I feel like I'm just throwing money away on product because I tend to use a lot. Is there another product out there that is recommended for paint as well as wheels/etc that activates (turns purple) when it reacts to iron, that is a little cheaper?

Iron removers in general are still pretty pricey. I have heard of some alternatives that are slightly less expensive, but its not a massive difference.

I assume you use a separate bar or piece for the wheels and glass. You can also use an older piece for the wheels like after you clay the car its okay to use on the wheels. I use my old clay and use it on the inside of wheels.

Yes, different clays are a must. I actually use older Megs clay for the wheels and glass as I am still working on some Adam's Visco for the paint.

I'm planning on testing a few iron removers that are available to the public soon. I'm also going to test one I can get as a certified detailer.
