Quick question, does everything look original in these pics? From other peoples pictures I've seen of replaced pumps, they have crimped or spliced wires and what not but I don't see anything like that on mine. Which just makes me wonder that if it's all original, why they cut the access panel into the floor pan if they never replaced the pump

Looks like the pump/pump basket were changed and they reused the wires. When u get a proper kit or full sender it comes with new pigtails to the bulkhead. So yes, it looks like it was changed, at some point

One thing that looks different, compared to the original pump out of my 94 is the flex pipe. Mine is a discolored "clear", where yours is solid black. The wires can be reused from the original install, without cutting/crimping. Connectors at both ends.

Ahh okay that's good to know. Thanks guys. Maybe they just used a cheap pump and that's why it failed

if the wire leading to the pigtail of the pump is frayed somewhere or old, brittle the pump is not getting enough volts and can burn up as a result

Many just replace the pump itself and use the old sending unit. Some unfortunately got counterfeit Walbro pumps unknowingly though which reportedly have short life spans.
