This is true, we need excitement at the mike, like when two cars line up, state camaro vs firebird, turbo vs nitrous, 6 speed vs auto who will win, Skizzy was good at that..

Well it sounds like we need to get in contact with skizzy and see what it would take to get him there. A good announcer can keep things from getting blah and it would be worth it to have someone who knows us and knows the cars.

Had a decent day at the track (given the circumstances) with brad and david. It's always interesting to attend local events as racers/spectators and evaluate how they do things. I think as coordinators for the LTX Shootout, any time we can get together at an unrelated event and see the good and not-so-good of how it's ran is beneficial to our event. Gateway made sure to not let us down in the "not-so-good" department today! The schedule was, track opened at 6am, tech at 7, racing at 9. I got there at 7:15, on 1.5 hours of sleep, got teched at 9, first pass was at 12. David had a nitrous backfire and wiped out the maf sensor so he was done for the day. They could (and probably should) have left then but stuck with me to see if I could make a decent pass. Little did we know at the time it wouldn't be until 4pm before we would make our second qualifying pass. It was identical to the first but this time we were not sticking around another 4 hours for another pass, enough was enough and the car went right onto the trailer and we got the hell out of there.
Even with a small car count of 25-30 cars, the ltx shootout is not without its bumps and bruises during the event, but how they are handled at the time and what is done to prevent them from happening in the future is the key to keeping the participants and spectators happy and engaged, which is what we strive for every year.
Needless to say, the way today went gave us several examples of how NOT to do things, and plenty of time to talk about some changes we want to make that we feel will help things run more smoothly in the coming years as well.
