Hey, new to the forum!
New here at LTX tech but looking forward to my stay. I'm 19 and studying Automotive/High Performance at UNOH in Ohio. My 1996 Camaro brings me here as I didn't get much advice over at LS1tech. Those guys just don't care or know much about the LT motors.

Short version:
Bought the car off my dad after the motor developed a loud knock.
For $750 it was mine (dad cut me a deal) for this rough but original 1996 Z28 hardtop with the 6-speed!
I love to research automotive history and stumbled across the almost unheard of 1LE Camaros and Firebirds....
For the hell of it I checked my car and it is definitely a factory 1LE car!!! Yellow koni shocks, no options with hardtop and manual and has the 1LE service tag code.
Couldn't believe it so I verified it at the dealership locally with the VIN. Yep it's a real 1LE Z28!!!
Im about to pull the motor and rebuild it but not sure what combo to go with. Trying to keep it original due to the rarity but also want a nice streetable motor with grunt.
Check out the photos and let me know your opinions on a new motor combo and parts suggestionsLast edited by Project 96_Z; 10-01-2018 at 09:09 AM.

That's what I thought too Fastbird! I felt pretty bad for my dad cause he sold it to me not knowing that but what a diamond in the rough... Only 55 1LE Camaros were made in 1996

Only 55?
That would be pretty cool to own one.

Thank you! I'm glad to be here surrounded by the most knowledgeable. I'd like to update the forum with pictures as I progress. Should I keep posting to this thread or make a new one? And if so, where should I start a new one?
