Light Weight Battery - Braille vs Deka
Need feedback on light weight batteries. I had a Braille B3121 21# / 450 CCA battery in the stock location for at least 6 years. Unfortunately, spent most of it's life with the Battery Tender attached to it. But it started the engine fine. Recently died. Looking for a replacement. It appears Braille is made by Deka, and an equivalent Deka battery (same weight / 400 CCA) cost about 1/2 of the Braille cost. Some people claim it's the same battery, with Braille overstating the CCA.
Any experience with Deka, or a suggested alternative? I want something beefy enough to work as a daily driver when required. Getting the Formula out of the garage and back in shape. Now that I'm retired, I need to decide if I want to keep it or sell it.
Thanks!SOLD - GONE TO A (VERY) GOOD HOME ! - 94 Formula A3+1: 381ci forged stroker - Callies Stealth, Oliver 5.85 billet rods, BME nitrous pistons / CNC LT4 heads / CC solid roller / TH400+GearVendors OD / 4.11 Strange 12-bolt / 300-shot N2O / Spohn Suspension / roll bar / MoTeC M48 Pro engine management system /a few other odds 'n ends.

I'm still using this one. No problems what so ever and only cost like $60.

IMO if you want the best street/strip battery, run 2 different batteries. Run a regular full sized battery for street duties, and when you are headed to the strip swap it out for a tiny 10lb Braille or Odyssey. You won't notice a 25lb difference when you are street cruising.

I'm using an XS Power battery, I searched the Braille vs Deka debate for hours on yellowbullet and then I found XS Power. XS has been great for me in stock location but like yours it spends much if its time on a battery tender!

I heard good things about XS Power batteries. I stuck a taylor battery box in the cubby hole on the driver side trunk in my T/A and was limited on batteries due to size, not necessary weight. I went with an Odyssey PC1200 (met size specs needed for the box and also had some CCA since I plan on driving the car as much as possible) which weighs about 38#. Odyssey also makes other batteries that are much lighter, may be worth exploring.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I found an XS Power S925 - 6.5L x 6.93W x 4.92"H - 23.5 # AGM, $180 (JEG's) incl post terminal converters.
Does that sound like what you have?
The Deka ETX30L (also sold as the Big Crank ETX30L) is identical to the Braille that I have, and about $100 (before any discounts), at least $125 less than the Braille. I like the idea of the same dimensions, because I already have the bolt to post conversion terminals on my original stock wires, and had made a fabricated aluminum bracket to exactly fit the Braille.SOLD - GONE TO A (VERY) GOOD HOME ! - 94 Formula A3+1: 381ci forged stroker - Callies Stealth, Oliver 5.85 billet rods, BME nitrous pistons / CNC LT4 heads / CC solid roller / TH400+GearVendors OD / 4.11 Strange 12-bolt / 300-shot N2O / Spohn Suspension / roll bar / MoTeC M48 Pro engine management system /a few other odds 'n ends.

I went with the D925 as recommended by XS Power. 23.5lbs, 6.5L - 4.95H - 6.95W. I have top tops terminals so I had to also get the 586 tall brass adapters. I can get you a price on it if your interested.
