    Default 1997 Trans-Am vs 2015 Mustang GT w/ Video

    Well I got whooped! lol

Raced a buddies Mustang from a dig, 25, 45 and 60 mph roll. Each time got spanked. The only somewhat close one was the 60mph roll. He pulled and I stayed at his back bumper. All the others he put a 2-3 car lengths on me.

Are these results expected? Just seems like I was not even close to putting up a fight. Are my 3.23 gears killing me?? It seems like the car itself is running fine. Any suggestions?

You should weigh a few hundred pounds less than him. Would come down to a driver's race. Either you forgot to remove some sandbags from your trunk, your motor isn't making what it should be, or a driver mod is needed.

Well, you're down on power to his 410rwhp, you might even be heavier, not sure. Also not sure why your car is 3.23 unless the stock rear got popped and was replaced by one from a auto car. Was traction an issue at all?

    Definitely no sand bags. Haha

car was originally an auto. Swapped In a t56. Haven't had the money to do the rear yet, that's why it still has 3.23.

Traction wasn't an issue since I was starting in 2nd and third gear for the higher speed rolls. 60mph started in third and just floored it. Don't know what else I could have done different.

Gearing wouldn't really matter from a roll assuming you're in the right trans gear. The GT should be 3700-3750 and you should be 3450ish. Something isn't adding up. What's your intake/exhaust setup?

Le1 heads, Lpp long tubes, y pipe into a magnaflow catback. No emissions. Solomon tune. Ls1 air intake with the 1313 Chris ram air. Stock intake manifold. 58mm TB, Cam is 223/231 .565/.571 112 Lsa. 1.6rr. Rebuilt motor, stock cubes. .026 head gasket. Auto lite 104's gapped at .040. Obd 1 swap.

Right now, 1st gear takes me to 44mph, 2nd takes me to 65, 3rd is like 80-90 I think. Shifting at 6300. I barely shift during a race. Lol

The power should be there... You are not far behind the GT on paper. The hp vs weight difference should be a wash.

I think your car would have 2.73s if it was originally a4. I don't think it would explain getting walked each time though. Like a 45mph roll starting in 2nd would do it.

Have you ever datalogged the car? You could be pulling timing, especially if you don't have the lt4 km. I remember Solomon's tune as being very aggressive with timing too, would start knocking much sooner.

It has 3.23. 97 came with that ratio plus the RPO code verifies that as well. I even counted how many times the wheel and driveshaft turns.

It has a lt4 knock module. I figured the weight difference would evened it out as well but he literally jumped immediately like i was standing still. It was sad.

That will probably be my next step is to have him send me the data loging stuff and see what is going on, if anything. I feel like it's running rich just based off how nasty my exhaust tips get after a few minutes of running.

well, I ordered a data logging cable. Going send off some logs to Solomon once it arrives to help maybe track down little issues I may be having and see what is going on with it, if anything.
