Restackng Coils for 24X build... Concerned about the magnetic field issues...
Anyone know if stacking coils like this will work?
Notice that I flipped the coils to keep them on top. And I've had no luck in figuring out a way to keep these up high.
I live in SW FLA and the applications I've found that set the coils low will not be sustainable down here, due to the likelihood of getting caught in the rain... often a lot of rain that comes up very fast.
So this is the latest idea I had, but I am worried that it may not work because of the coils being reversed.
Anyone else tried this or know something about the inductive fields of these coils?

Why are they placed like that? I've seen many relocated LS coils. Hung on the firewall, custom remote mount on a wheel well, etc. Never saw them like that.
What vc's are those? Mine are in the norm position on my cantons.
I don't think I'd rest them right on the vc surface due to heat exchange. I'd imagine they'd be fine with how you have them with a spacer on the VC and if the coils/wires do not touch.
Check out the Grand Prix 3800 coil setup for other ideas on remote mount.

Thanks brother... I was groping around last night and found a thread regarding LS2 and LS7 coils... Which I didn't know would work. But that lead me to an eBay link... Where I saw a bracket they use that mounts the coils vertically on a slide setup.
So I am going to fab up a bracket to do that with these coils... Just to get it to where I can finally fire this build, which in a few days will cross the three year mark. I'm so close that it's Makin' me nuts.
I think that once I hear her crank off it will spin up some ambition again and maybe I can finally get it back to where she can do battle again.
And that will be life altering... I've been trapped between a Caddy land yacht and a one ton van except for a weekend here and there in my 90 Miata... Which I am ashamed to admit... Seems 'fast'😖.
So with the new AFR LE 210s, LE specd cam 24x setup... The pucker factor should be up there for a while.Last edited by OVA1; 09-30-2015 at 02:05 PM.

Why don't you mount the coils under the water pump!? Then it would be OEM! Nothing wrong with a little coolant on the coils!
Post up some pictures when you get them on and let's see a video when you start it.

Ok... Here's the Vertical stack LS Relocate bracket I saw on E-bay... liked it, copied it more or less for these coils. Don't be too hard on the fabrication, what you're looking at are my 3rd and 4th passes with a Tig welder. It's just mocked up... I cut the rods first and set them aside then fab'd up the bracket and the spacers, forgetting to size it to the rods, which ended up being too short. A quick trip to Home D tomorrow will solve that problem.
The coils sit 3/16ths or so off the VC... I barely got this done before I had to shut it all down to go watch the grandkids school thang.

Damn that looks sweet. Looks very clean as well. I wish I had the ability to fabricate.

Don't know what's going on with the uploader... but that's the new relocate brackets, installed.Last edited by OVA1; 10-04-2015 at 08:05 PM.
