99.8% of caddy owners will never see their engine, let alone know the block code for it. Old Cadillacs had LS's in them i don't see why they make a whole other line of blocks just for caddy.

They used to do that, and they stopped for a reason (northstar). It's cheaper to use a bulletproof platform that is reliable and already makes great power and they can just pull it off the GM shelves as needed. Plus, the Caddies still share platforms with other GM cars. The 6th gen Camaro is using an ATS platform.

I don't think they are distancing themselves at all. They have higher quality standards than a Chevy or Buick and you pay a "Cadillac Tax" for that just like with the flagship Corvette.

The new 1500 z71 silverado has a lt1 option, along with a new 5.3 v8 based off the ls, I imagine they will put the lt1 into the 6.0 trucks.

I just think Caddy will stay with the LS block for some time.. The CTSv will eventually get a LT4 I'd bet. Just can't see it soon.. Isn't the LT1 like $8000? Who knows, I hope they do go LTx since it is much better.. Maybe they'll bring back the LT5 for the Vette and slam the LT4s in the Caddies..

In my experience.. Buick has a much better ride quality than Caddy.. 2011 SRX rode like rocks compared to the smooth ride of the Enclave..

Back on topic.. saw a 2016 Saturday.. really don't dig the taillights..

They have a NASTY twin turbo V-6 for the high powered Caddy's.

The LS7 came out in 2006. It is a great engine but they can do better with the brand new LT1 program they have.
