Felpro 1074 and boost....
Read about a lot of guys that run the 1074 religiously with FI engines and don't have problems. Anyone have firsthand experience of them failing? Just curious...

My 1074s are still going strong after years of 8-15 psi.

Wish I could say the same. This set seen 16 psi for about a total of 3 miles I would guess. ARP hardware (bolts not studs). Replaced them with felpros again but reused my ARP studs from another build. While taking the bolts loose I was able to break them loose with a 12" ratchet so I'm not blaming them. Either they didn't reach proper stretch with what I torqued them down with or that very first outing at the shootout when the rotor let loose and backfired did it. Either way from the research I've seen there are guys running them successfully into 20+ psi

I had the motor out when they were installed. I ran a tap into all the holes and vacuumed everything out. Then installed ARP bolts & lubed washers with 3 rounds of increasing torque to 65 ft lbs. Funny how I can remember this off hand but not important birthdays.
Hopefully you have better luck on the next set!

Haha I hear ya. I did the same here. Chased threads, cleaned them out, lubed washers with arp lube, 3 rounds of torque ending at 65#. Only thing I can figure is I used "the right stuff" black rtv to seal the holes in waterjackets. Shouldn't be an issue now with the studs and 4 rounds of torque ending at 80#. Should know soon

Good point on the torque wrench. I've had this thing for almost 2 decades now and never had it checked. I'll get that done and recheck them. I know they say you don't have to retorque these gaskets after installation but do you?

Dont use RTV for sealing head bolt threads. You are supposed to use PTFE paste.
68 Mechanical Alcohol Injected LT1.
