is my 4l60e going out,
ok so I got in my car today and when I started it was making weird rattle sounds and another sound that sounds like a leaking exhaust gasket. Well I put it into gear and it didn't move. I put it in reverse and pushed the gas and bo movement, just weird sounds. Same with the other gears. The fluid smells pretty burnt but isn't dark. I'm going to change the fluid and filter this weekened. Can a clogged filter cause this?https://youtu.be/GgXXyhrgmBY

Sounds like the pump failed. You figure a clogged filter would have gradually degraded, not just all of the sudden.

Clogged filters aren't normally an issue with the 4L60E. It's obviously an easy place to start though. If you don't see anything obvious there, you have one of a couple options. Either the converter, pump, or input drum is broken. It's easy to diagnose a bad pump just by disconnecting a cooler line and start the vehicle. If you have no cooler flow, the pump is broke.

Thanks all for the input! I took the pan off today and there is a bunch of metal shaving. Also what's weird is there are tiny little cylinder shaped metal pieces. They look machined so I'm guessing something inside broke apart. I'll post a picture in a bit.

Alright so as you can see there is a little tiny chunk of metal and the cylinder shaped piece of metal I was talking about. It looks almost like a transmission roller clutch piece. it's so tiny. But it's too perfect to be a random piece of metal that broke off. And there was 3 of these. I have never changed the tranny fluid since I got the car so there was a decent amount of metal dust in there.
