Valve covers and 1.6rr
So after a loooonnnggg time I finally bought a new cam for the Formula , I got an LT4 Hotcam kit and it comes with 1.6rr, question is: would my stock valve covers work fine for me with these roller rockers or do I need taller ones?

Supporting Memberyes they will work, BUT keep an eye on the rockers after 500 miles and again at 1k miles. i had the pin back out of one and 3 others were about to fail
also, lt4 springs suck. literally, i saw valve float at 5400rpm2021 Charger Scat 392

Supporting MemberNo, not related to the valve covers themselves. No trimming of covers needed, drop em right on.
I mentioned it because I don't want anyone to have to hope and pray the pin fell in the pan and didn't hit anything on the way down like I had to. I got lucky and it did and I was able to fish it out, your results may vary2021 Charger Scat 392

Supporting MemberSome have it happen, others dont. There was a bad batch of rockers from crane back in 08-09. It's possible your kit was sitting on a shelf for that long. It happened to a few lt4 corvette guys with the rockers from the factory, and a few that used the kit.
The springs from the kit are known junk all around. They flat out can't handle the lift of the cam, you're right at the limit of those springs. I ran crane dual spring kit and switched to comp ultra pro mag sa rockers with my hotcam2021 Charger Scat 392

IIRC Crane makes the GMPP RR used in LT4 Hot Cam kit. those would be the "narrow body" rockers which clear stock VC. FWIW I have had Cranes for several years in another engine no problems
The springs that come with that kit were made for the hollow sodium filled "lighter" LT4 valves and are not the best for the heavier LT1 valves. I would use another spring96 BBB 383/T56

if you think im kidding there you go. i personally will not use another rocker with just a smooth pressed pin. i ended up going with comp ultra pro mag SA rockers that have a flared pin. i do check the scorpions on my father inlaws car as those are holding up well as well.2021 Charger Scat 392
