Eaton M112 Manifold build :D
Hey everyone!
I had planned on not creating a build log for this, and every now and then throw up teaser pics, but I figured your input might yield a better end result.
So lets start with the basics. A couple months back, I purchased an old and tired lt1 out of a Caprice. 166k on the clock IIRC, with good old iron heads. My plan was to use it as a guinea pig for this build, that way I could keep my 96 T/A untouched. Once I was finished with the manifold, I planned on building the block from the ground up. I'm shooting for a forged 355 with a 9.5 compression ratio, LE2 heads, and 24x conversion.
So lets begin. First thing was to pull everything that I wouldn't be using on the new engine. Off came all the emissions and EVAP components which went straight to the garbage.

After a good degreasing, I removed the intake and began making the mold.

I started with the sides, drilling out the bolt mounts and intake runners. From there, I started smoothing our the wood, a bit of wood filler hear and there. I didn't have the best wood onhand, and just make due with what I had.

Double checking the height of the manifold... Its gonna be close

Next up is the font and back of the intake. Started glueing and filling the cracks

And now for the runners. God help me with this one. These suck....

Now looking at the runners, you can see they are slightly (exaggeration) undersized. I didn't port anything yet, ad I'm still working on filling up the cracks. I am a bit worried that they are undersized a bit, and may be undersized a bit in the final product. Unfortunately, this m112 is giant compared to the stock intake, and it didn't leave much to work with. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get some porting done to see how it will really look.

Supporting MemberWhat do you plan on officially making this intake out of? Do you really even need runners with a roots blower? That's what you have intake runners in the heads for lol

Supporting MemberI was kidding lol. I'd see you having to make this a hair taller or angle cutting the runners so they aren't as horizontal. What is the intake going to be made of @nateleduc? Composite? Aluminum?

i'm going to try and make it a bit bigger. Possibly adding a lump on the otherside and porting it from there. Currently aluminum is the best candidate. Hoping to either do it my self, but I'm looking into the possibility of having it done professionally. Unfortunately that would make it crazy expensive if thats the case.

I bought a set of short style ev6 injectors. They are only about 2/3 the height of regular injectors

nice build, but would it be to tall if you just hacked the stock manifold in half and used the bottom part? that way you dont have to jack with getting the mounting surface angle exact?

If it sits too tall I would not mind doing this to fit the blower on my car94 Formula "budget build" #thebeaterbird
